Therapy for Men in Kansas City, MO

“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”

– Viktor Frankl

You Don't Have to Check Your Pain at the Door.

As a man, you might have a lot of different responsibilities. From managing your relationships with your children and partner to dealing with financial and family issues. Maybe you're struggling to navigate all those responsibilities and feel like you're overwhelmed, anxious or angry all the time. Or perhaps you’ve faced disappointment in your personal or professional life, which has led to relationship difficulties, isolation, money problems, parenting issues, and more.

Feeling Empty and Drained?

Do you feel like you've lost a sense of purpose and fulfillment, leaving your soul feeling empty? Maybe it feels like you have to check your emotions at the door and pretend everything is alright, that you can't let your guard down and talk about the issues that matter most. That vulnerability might signify weakness, alienating parts of you that need to develop.

As one of the few male therapists in the area who has experienced and lived through these challenges, I can relate to what you’re going through and am here to help.

A Therapist for Men Can Help By Helping You:

  • Learn to communicate better with your partner or family members so you can improve your relationships.

  • Gain useful skills to help you understand your relationship with money either as a breadwinner or stay-at-home Dad and work better with financial-related issues.

  • Discover a new purpose and sense of fulfillment that comes from exploring and understanding yourself.

  • Discuss things you normally wouldn’t feel comfortable discussing by providing a safe and confidential space to talk about them.

  • Learn how to more easily express and unburden your thoughts without fear of judgment or criticism.

Therapy for men provides an invaluable opportunity to learn more about yourself and how to lead a more fulfilling life. It also allows you to open up about the things that matter most to you, the things you're struggling with (no matter how “big” or “small” they seem), without feeling like they’re too much or too hard to discuss.

A Therapist for Men Who Can Provide Guidance, Support, and Help You Set Goals to Improve Your Mental Wealth

As a male therapist, I understand opening up about our problems might seem like a sign of weakness. But I’ve also seen how talking about our issues and setting goals to change them can create a better life and build better relationships for ourselves.

It is my goal to guide you through whatever struggles you’re facing, helping you navigate rough waters during one of life’s storms or providing you with a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on when you need it most.

Money and Beyond

Because money is an area many men feel comfortable discussing, once they open that door, it’s easier for them to also express themselves around other issues.

Once they address the other issues, they can reduce their anxiety and stress and have more control over their decisions (financial and otherwise).

Many men come to me to talk about their financial issues at home or in their careers, but they often take advantage of the opportunity to slowly address other areas and issues in their life, too.

My Approach to Evidence-Based Therapy for Men

I approach therapy knowing that, along with the other issues they are dealing with, men must learn to sit in their discomfort to overcome them. No amount of money or intellectualizing can push their issues and pain away. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for men to talk about issues they wouldn't normally discuss. It's important to me that I create an environment where men feel comfortable discussing those issues without fear of judgment or criticism.

My goal is to help men develop communication and coping skills to improve their relationships, rewrite their personal narrative and direction, and ultimately gain a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Ultimately, I aim to help you set goals to change and improve your Mental Wealth.

If your coping and communication skills are underdeveloped, or if you don't have those skills at all, the issues you are facing will wear you down bit by bit and negatively affect your mental wellbeing. All due to you not confronting your problems head-on. As the saying goes:

“The further you run away from your problems, the more exhausted you are when they catch up to you, because they always do.”

We must all address our problems to improve them. The truth may hurt but it will set you free.
